Academic Requirements
Academic Background & GPA: No fixed minimum GPA published, but strong academic performance is expected (e.g., ≥ 3.0/4.0 or higher). A solid GPA on a 4.0 scale is advantage for competitive applicants. Undergraduate Degrees Eligible: Any major is welcome (e.g. engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, physical sciences, social sciences), but you must demonstrate foundational coursework success. Prerequisite Coursework: Two semesters of calculus‑based probability & mathematical statistics (topics: distributions, random variables, MLE, hypothesis testing) — CMU course equivalents: 36‑225 & 36‑226. One course in linear regression analysis (e.g., CMU 36‑401 or econometrics equivalent). Familiarity with matrix algebra / linear algebra (vector/matrix operations, inverses, matrix multiplication).
