Bachelor’s background & GPA: Requires a 4‑year bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related STEM field.
Minimum undergraduate GPA: 3.0 out of 4.0 (higher preferred); this applies to ABET-accredited programs.
Subject prerequisites (relevant bachelor’s coursework required)
Calculus sequence: MATH 163/164 (Calc I & II), MATH 261 (Multivariate), MATH 262 (Linear Algebra & Differential Equations).
Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering – statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, materials & mechanics of materials.
Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer, Dynamic Systems/Control, Design & Materials Lab, Fluid Mechanics background.
Coursework in programming/tools (e.g., MATLAB, CAD) per departmental requirements.
