Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another quantitative field (B.S. or B.A.). Minimum GPA: 3.0 out of 4.0 (Rice prefers at least a "B" average) . Relevant background: Adequate preparation in calculus, probability, statistics, optimization, plus programming or engineering fundamentals. Students may need to take preparatory courses if lacking these GRE: Optional but strongly recommended, especially for competitive applicants or those from non-traditional backgrounds
