Academic & GPA Requirements: Candidates must hold an honours bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field (e.g., manufacturing, materials, energy systems), with at least a 2.1 (Upper Second Class Honours) or equivalent (e.g., ~60–65% or ~3.3–3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale). UCD’s graduate entry norm is a minimum 2:1 (Upper Second Class Honours). Internally, UCD students must have a GPA of at least 2.80, weighted across the later years, to progress.
