To apply for the Master’s in Financial Engineering at UIUC, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, economics, or a related quantitative field. Academic prerequisites include at least one year of calculus, and one semester each of linear algebra, probability and statistics, and programming (preferably in C or C++). A strong academic record is required, with a minimum GPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework. While prior knowledge of finance is helpful, it is not mandatory for admission.
