Acceptable bachelor’s backgrounds include engineering, computer science, mathematics/statistics, physical or life sciences, liberal arts, business, education—basically any field with strong quantitative skills, especially calculus (at least two semesters or equivalent).
Subject prerequisites (minimum six lines in summary):
At least two semesters of calculus and strong quantitative coursework.
Familiarity with programming and computational methods.
Understanding of statistical foundations (e.g. mathematical statistics course).
Basic database knowledge (prior course or willingness to take CIS 552).
Data visualization and exploratory data analysis background.
