A minimum of Second Class Honours Grade II (2.2 Hons) in a primary honours degree (NFQ Level 8), typically in Biological Sciences or a closely related field (e.g. Zoology, Marine Science, Environmental Biology). India equivalent: roughly 55–59% or around 3.0–3.2 CGPA on a 4.0 scale. UCC may consider applicants with relevant professional or research experience under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), even if their degree classification is lower than 2.2, on a case-by-case basis.
